Standard 7
Teachers are able to plan different kinds of lessons.

The teacher organizes and plans systematic instruction based upon knowledge of subject matter, pupils, the community, and curriculum goals.

Evidence 1: Lesson plan Electronic Portfolio

Rationale 1: This lesson was developed so students have a way of communicating their career work into a techno-savy portfolio. Students enrolled in HERO coop and Health Occupations are required to produce resume`s, cover letters and showcase personal examples of leadership, volunteerism and school activities, etc.

KSD
Knowledge 7.K.2 The teacher knows how to take contextual considerations (instructional materials; individual student interests, needs, and aptitudes; and community resources) into account when planning instruction that creates an effective bridge between curriculum goals and students’ experiences.

I developed this idea a few years ago when burnable CD’s came out on the market so that students had a way of showing employers who are techno-savy—their work ethic and abilities. Before this time , students made a typical portfolio using a 3-ring binder and page protectors. Students are given the resources needed to showcase their aptitudes and interests using the technology available at their school or home.

Skills 7.S.2 The teacher plans for learning opportunities that recognize and address variation in learning styles, learning differences, and performance modes.

What has been my experience is that students who excell in class are able to incorporate the eportfolio easily into a finalized product leaving me with time to devote to helping other students learn despite the learning differences and performance levels.

Disposition 7.D.1 The teacher values both long-term and short-term planning.

Short term goals and long term goals are a part of our curriuculm in Family & Consumer Science Education. Since I have both of these classes for the entire year versus just a semester, I must plan out according the short-term objectives and the long-range objectives so that my short term helps the students build on earlier learning for the long term.
